Several demonstrations of Informer 4.0 were conducted to give partners, customers and others in attendance a look at the new release that revolutionalizes information access for operational and business end users who make the critical day-to-day decisions. Informer users now have access to data from multiple systems, platforms, or locations, and can view it from a single point of access without the need for a data warehouse. The events were packed with information, entertainment, and an exciting vibe.

With the new release, Informer not only opens up access to these different types of databases in isolation, but it will also let users connect them, emphasizes Leupen. “Let's say you had product information in a SQL database and then the orders and people who placed orders stored in a U2 database,” says Leupen. “You could write a report that actually in real time sucks in data from both databases, glues the results together to do operational BI analysis in real time at once.”

F.W. Davison Develops Packaged Reports For Quick & Easy Informer Implementation
Informer is already a popular reporting solution for F.W. Davison’s HR Pyramid customers. Entrinsik partners with a number of multivalue solution providers like F.W. Davison, to integrate Informer as a real-time, interactive, web-based reporting tool for their package offering.

Informer Now Crosses Database Boundaries...in Real-time!
|
Linking between tables has never been easier than it is in Informer 4.0. In fact, you can now link across separate databases!
|
To add a link, click on the mapping tab and select any mapping. Under links for this mapping, click “Add” for a local link or “Add Remote” for an inter-database link. The dialog prompts you for a foreign or reverse-foreign key. After clicking “Save”, your new link shows up under the report column chooser, allowing you to combine multiple sources of data into a single report. It's that simple!
Upgrading to 4.0 is easy!
Upgrading to Informer 4.0 from 3.2 is a snap. You can install 4.0 in five minutes by running the installer and completing a few fields.
To import roles, users, meta files and reports, you simply add a datasource, upload two files via the import page, name the datasource, and click the submit button. You can even schedule it to run in the off hours, so the next morning you'll be ready to go. Also, you can run 4.0 and 3.2 simultaneously and upgrade at your own pace. Informer 4.0 Feature Spotlight: Full LDAP Integration and Additional Security Enhancements

A key feature of Informer has been comprehensive role-based security. Now -- with Informer 4.0 -- we have taken security a step further to allow Informer permissions to be applied directly to LDAP users and groups.
|
Informer 4.0 directly links to any directory service including Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, and Open LDAP. Informer then maintains a constant connection providing live security settings. This means that every change or update within a directory service will automatically carry over to Informer’s security. Informer then allows administrators to make customizations such as adding groups and users specific to Informer. Version 4.0 enables an administrator to apply default functional and data access permissions to datasources, files/tables, fields/columns and even specific reports. Informer also allows for exceptions to be created on any level for data and functional access. Security can also be applied to scheduled reports using the new archiving feature. Informer users can now login and access a list of archived reports on their report homepage. This list can be populated with scheduled reports with applied security settings pertaining to an individual user. With full LDAP integration and the latest enhancements, Informer security can now be a completely automated process!
